Pensacola

We made it to Pensacola yesterday.  It rained a lot while we were driving .  We were also side-swiped by a young girl in a red Mercedes.  Luckily, we weren't hurt and the car just got some very minor scuffs.  Cool Pa had some collateral damage... it rocked his world for a bit.  But all in all...it was a good day.

We are staying at the Holiday Inn on the beach. I am writing this blog from the balcony this am.  Nice cup of coffee, and lots of wave sounds.  Cool Pa is still in bed, dreaming of retirement.

The hotel put up notice of Dale being in the house!

So of course we had to celebrate the news!

Dale loved it.  People congratulated Dale on being the guy on the sign.

Here in Pensacola they have a trolley that runs from 4 - midnight.  It is free, just hop on hop off.  This was great as Cool Pa has been running hard for about a week and confessed he was a little tired.  So we scouted out a great little hole-in-the-wall place and commenced to CELEBRATING!  Come on people that is what this trip is about.

Here is Cool Pa right after we arrived.  I think he was a little reluctant to go out and wondered where I was dragging him.  Once he saw the COOLNESS of this laid back beach bar...he was all giggles and grins.  If you are ever in Pensacola, go visit the Paradise Grill.  Wear your flip flops, groove to the local band and eat some tasty and very reasonably priced food.

Here we are on arrival. The music was great.

It is really a little wooden, half wall kind of structure.  Fans and a beach breeze kept us cool and happy!  Here was our view of the band.

This was us after a couple of cocktails.

And after a few more LOL   Mellow has set in at this point.

We rode the trolley back home and decided to go sit by the ocean.  Cool Pa decided to test the waters.  It has gotten us excited to get to Sanibel.  We can sit still and just soak up the sun and waves to our hearts content.  Dylan and Ian (w/families) and my brother Moose and his family will spend the week with us there.

Here are a few selfies of us down by the beach.

The moon came up.  It was a beautiful orange-red.  Should be a beautiful day, red at night, sailors delight, red in the morning, sailors take warning.  Here is a warning....watch out cause we are on the loose.

View from our balcony in the daylight.  My sister and her husband Bruce will join us on today.  They are vacationing about 30  miles or so down the beach.

Wish everyone was here, enjoying it all with us!

  2. I can just imagine Dale's rant after the side swipe! A few F-bombs dropped I'm sure! Love the retirement sign! What a nice surprise!
