We got an early start...we were on the road heading East by straight up NOON. In Cool Pa world (retired no less), that is equivalent to O'dawn thirty. Our destination was the Chateau Lemoyne (pictured above).
Mae Mae and Phinn are our traveling companions. Mae Mae is our hula girl. She provided much entertainment on the drive. It was funny how she often bounced to the beat of the tunes coming at us from the Blues channel. It looked like she was rocking out the blues on her little ukulele.
At her feet is Phinn. Phinn will be doing the trip with us. He is hard drinking, go to the party kind of dolphin. Look for him and his mis-adventures in future entries.
We made our way across Louisiana. We had a picnic lunch of cold roasted chicken, swiss cheese, crackers, pickles, cherries and bananas. It was storming just down the road, so we had a nice breeze and a lightening show that was just far enough away to enjoy.
The hotel put us in a suite and gave us some free drinks to enjoy. Cool Pa was loving the suite right from the start. It is at the end of the hall. Complete with double-door entrance and ante doors that allow us to close off our hallway.
I think he very quickly felt like he was living the life of the Rich and Famous.
We got settled and headed out to Bourbon Street. We had a nice healthy lunch...so we slacked off a bit for dinner. We had had a couple of cocktails and both needed to get something in our stomach before we had trouble navigating turns and shit. So we hammered down a piece of pizza. Once I got carbo loaded, I ordered a X-large Mango Daiquiri with a triple shot. Note to self...watch out for the corners, I am hanging a little wide around them.
Cool Pa and Gator Moma after a few.
Cool Pa contemplating getting a HUGE ASS BEER! The lady behind him in a semi-squat position was dancing down. No one was with her, she was just grooving it. I had to smile as I watched her be in her happy place.
We had fun, Got our smile on and were happy to be here. Happy to be ALIVE (me) and Happy to be RETIRED (Cool Pa). Happy that although life nevers flows according to plan, it manages to be a delight in spite of ourselves.
What a beautiful place! Did Dale get the Big Ass Beer? hahaha
