Marianna Florida

Today was a travel day.  I spent the morning with my sister just visiting.  I let Cool Pa sleep until about 1:30.  We knew we would spend most of the day just driving ...so why not.

We did make it to Marianna.  We had a mission to accomplish.  In the historic part of Marianna there is a large obelisk.  It is in memory of the Battle of Marianna.   Apparently a fierce fight, as the battle is also referred to as the "Alamo of Florida".   On September 27th, 1964, Union troops struck the small Northwest Florida town.

We didn't stop because we are battle buffs, but because CP needed his picture taken in front of the monument.  It seems when he was about 5, traveling with his parents, he posed for a picture in front of this memorial.  Then later at around age 40, he traveled again with his parents to a family celebration and stopped to have his picture taken again.  We decided that since we were going by the area, we would stop and take another photo.

Here were the shots we took today.  Hopefully we can scan the old photos and post them here when we get back home.
